Loose Slots

It is a well-known fact that some slot machines pay out a larger percentage than others, these machines are said to ‘loose’. Loose machines are used by casino operators to stimulate play and to keep the players motivated. When you see that a machine is paying out, you’re confidence in winning rises. When playing a table game (blackjack, poker, etc.) players like to be in an area that is quiet so that they can concentrate, therefore you will not find loose slots nearby as the sounds would be distracting to the table players.

When someone is focused on another activity, such as waiting in line for a show, they are not focused on winning at slots but may casually play a machine simply to pass the time; tight machines typically fill these areas. In other words, areas where the slot machines are typically played by people who don’t play slots (such as the above example or table players who are on their way to the tables) are known to be tight as these players are considered to be casual players who won’t be disappointed if they don’t win.

Loose slots will therefore be found, not near the tables or other activities but right in the middle of the slots area where the sounds and lights would influence people whose main objective at the casino is to win a slot jackpot.
